Hatha yoga emphasises posture and breathing exercises, which are traditionally believed to open up channels of energy. Hatha means force in Sanskrit. Classes typically last 45 to 90 minutes and consist of breathing exercises, yoga positions, and meditation. The practice integrates the mind, body, and spirit.
Vinyasa means linking movement with breath.
The practice focuses on bringing awareness to the breathing and using the breath as a way to guide you through the movements. It is a dynamic class where you move through a flow of different yoga poses.
Mat-based Pilates focuses on flexibility, strength, stability, posture, and proper breathing. Each exercise challenges the core muscles, and the method of instruction involves slow, deliberate movement.
