    Teacher’s Profile

    Richey

I have been working in the wellness and fitness sector for over 16 years, predominantly dedicated to teaching yoga and Pilates. I lived and worked in countries  such as Dubai, Bahrain, Hongkong, Thailand and Singapore. My journey  in wellness and fitness started when I was first introduced to yoga in 2006 as a curious, unsure and unconfident student. Little did I know that yoga was all I needed in that particular moment of my life. I immediately fell in love with the practice's philosophy, which inspired me to travel to India to be a qualified yoga teacher in 2008. I believe yoga is about inner changes and awareness. An opportunity to connect with one’s inner self. It is this heightened awareness and inner connection that I believe has made me more perceptive and adaptable to situations. This positive impact on my well-being drives me to continue sharing the phenomenal benefits of yoga with others.

I discovered another mind-body integration principle, PILATES. The core synergistic approach of pilates has enhanced my yoga practice. Pilates made me aware of my body on a deeper level, inside and out. Understanding the anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and musculoskeletal system of the human body is a crucial element in any physical activity, especially injury prevention, which has been highlighted in my Pilates training.

I am committed to ongoing professional development. I am currently completing my 300-hour yoga teacher’s training. Plus, I recently qualified Mummy and Baby Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Sound Therapy, and Sound Healing Accredited Practitioner Course.

I completed 200 hours of  yoga teachers’ training at the renown International Sivananda Vedanta Centre, India, in 2008.

In 2011, I gained qualification as a Personal Trainer and Mechanic of Injury Prevention by AFAA (Athletics and Fitness Association of America- in Bahrain), I also, Certified as TRX Group Suspension Trainer - Bahrain in 2012.

I received my Matwork Pilates instructor certification by the American school - Balanced Body in  Singapore, 2014. I was also certified by the Moving Body Academy in Singapore in  ABC  program (Anatomy, Basic Physiology, and Core) Furthermore, I attained certification in prenatal and postnatal exercise prescription, conducted by Penny Elliott of the Physiotherapy Posture and Fitness Clinic, Sydney, Australia, all in the same year.

I attained REPs (Register of Exercise of Professionals) Yoga Teacher Level - 3 in 2017 in the UK.

The fitness and wellness program I can teach are the following:

Meditation and  Breath Work, Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Power Yoga, Detox Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Pre-natal and Postnatal Yoga/Pilates, Darmawheel Yoga, Aerial Hammock Yoga, Rope Yoga, Mat Work Pilates, Mummy and Baby Yoga, Children’s Yoga and Sound bath therapy.
